Gene Fourney | CEO/President

Gene Fourney is a 25 year seasoned advertising and marketing veteran, Gene oversees new business development and as well as advertising and marketing projects at The Highlands Group.

Prior to the startup of The Highlands Group, Gene Fourney worked as a marketing consultant to New England Outdoor Center, the largest outdoor resort in Maine where he oversaw planning and execution for their annual marketing efforts with $2,500,000 in sales and marketing/advertising budget of $250,000.

Marketing efforts included a new corporate website and search engine optimization effort, public relations, marketing partnerships with area hotels for sales of NEOC whitewater rafting trips on a commissioned basis, consumer promotions with radio stations and regional retailers, television and radio production, brochure distribution, direct mail programs, trade shows and direct marketing efforts with group sales. The focus of his efforts was internet marketing where close to 50% of all new business at New England Outdoor Center was generated from corporate website and internet marketing efforts

Prior to that Gene Fourney, oversaw sales and marketing for an Internet Service Provider, web design, ecommerce and IT consulting company in Raleigh, NC. He was responsible for planning and execution of marketing and sales strategies of internet access, web design, web hosting and programming services to corporate customers within the region. His company was ranked the 5th largest ISP in the Raleigh, NC market in 1999 by Triangle Business Journal servicing over 7,500 residential and corporate customers.

Gene Fourney also worked as Manager of Motorsports Network Radio Programming for Capitol Sports Networks, a division of Capitol Broadcasting in Raleigh, NC for an 8 year period. He was originally hired as Account Executive primarily doing radio ad sales for Duke University, NC State and University of Virginia Football and Basketball regional sports networks plus NFL teams including the Washington Redskins and Carolina Panthers.

He was promoted in 1992 to oversee marketing, sales, operations, station affiliation and promotion for NASCAR network programming that included Winston Cup Today, a daily 5 minute and weekly 30 minute NASCAR news program growing the network from 50 stations to over 400 radio stations with over 2.5 million listeners nationally and revenues to over $1,000,000 with gross profits of $500,000.

Gene Fourney was also responsible for overseeing live network radio broadcasts for the Grand National Series as well as Winston Cup and Grand National network radio broadcasts at the Charlotte Motor Speedway along with syndicated broadcasts for Richard Petty's Farewell Tour and syndicated television programming in partnership with Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt.

Gene moved to Denver in 2004 to live closer to family members including his parents and brother in Highlands Ranch and startup of an advertising and marketing agency, The Highlands Group.
